Description
This award winning composition depicts a night time drive through the mountainsides of the Caribou National Forest in Idaho, USA. The use of enharmonics creates a tense atmosphere. The melody is giving to a solo cello but the entire string section will eventually share in passing the theme around the orchestra. We eventually reach the pinnacle of the mountainside and see the vast beauty before us illuminated by the moonlight. We then descend back to the town and a more calm sense of anxiety settles back on us. This piece was awarded first place at the ISU Undergradaute Research Symposium in 2010.
